TNT Express Continues Expansion in Eastern Europe

Publish Date : 4 March 2002 at 09:58 CET - TNT Express, the leading global business to business carrier, is launching a new scheduled night flight connection between its European air hub in Liége, Belgium and Bucharest, Romania.

The new service, commencing on 4th March 2002, replaces the commercial uplift services which currently link the Romanian capital to the TNT Express European air network and has been introduced following a 50% growth over the last twelve months in both import & export consignment volumes.

The additional flights, operating in conjunction with Bridges Worldwide, will link Bucharest to Liége via the company's sortation facility at Vienna airport. The connection to Bucharest means that consignments sent to Romania from TNT customers around the world will arrive five and a half hours earlier than before, whilst improved cut-off times give local businesses in Romania an extra hour at the end of each day to process export orders for their goods.

Alan Jones, Group Managing Director TNT Express comments: "Our team in Romania produced outstanding results last year and it is now economically viable to operate a dedicated aircraft enabling us to provide faster services for customers. Opening new routes to offer ever shorter transit times is an integral part of our vision to be the world's fastest and most reliable provider of express delivery services."
