From September 9 th , a TNT Express BAe146 aircraft – with a capacity of 10 tonnes – will make four weekly flights on the new routes. This will bring the total number of Italian airports served by TNT Express to eight – more than competitors DHL and UPS, which operate to five and four airports respectively.

The six Italian airports already served by TNT are: Milan Linate, Rome Ciampino, Pescara, Turin, Treviso and Bologna.

Commenting on the new routes, Christian Drenthen, Managing Director, TNT Express worldwide networks, said: "The addition of these new airports offers our business-to-business customers in two key industrial areas later departure times for exports and earlier arrival times for imports, demonstrating our commitment to being the fastest and most reliable express operator. The expansion brings us two steps closer to our plan of serving 67 European air gateways by the end of 2005 and reinforces our position as market leader in Italy."
