TNT Signs Contract for Two More Boeing 737 Aircraft

Oct 6, 2005

TNT Express - the world's leading business to business express delivery company - today announced that it has signed a contract with GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) for two additional B737-300SF aircraft.

With a payload of 16 tonnes, the aircraft will be introduced to the company's highly successful European Air Network in August and December 2006 respectively and will replace sub-contracted aircraft.

The introduction of the new aircraft will provide the company with increased capacity and will bring the total number of 737's in the TNT fleet to nine.

Niky Terzakis, Managing Director, TNT Airways, said: "We have been very pleased with the performance of the B737, since the first aircraft was introduced into our fleet in 2003. It is a very reliable and a cost-effective solution on routes where a lower capacity freighter is required."

Like the 737s currently operated by TNT, the new aircraft will be converted from passenger carriers to freighters by IAI/Bedek in Israel and will be modified to comply with Chapter IV noise emission standards.
