Queens Award for Enterprise
Years of innovation paid off for express delivery company TNT (UK) Ltd on October 22nd 2000, when it was announced that the company was a winner in the Innovation category of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
Tom Bell TNT Express Services UK & Ireland Managing Director commented:
TNT now provides the UK’s leading internet tracking system with a combination of features that is unique in the market. The combination of features includes direct access to the TNT central database and real time Proof Of Delivery (POD) with receiver’s name, time and place of delivery available within minutes of delivery. A ‘tracking by customer reference’ facility means that customers can use their own company reference numbers in place of TNT consignment note numbers to make tracking enquiries. Unlimited non-password access allows both senders and receivers to access the tracking and POD information they need. Mobile Data Technology (MDT): This TNT custom designed in-cab messaging system links 62 depots, three sortation hubs and 1,600 company owned collection and delivery vehicles. The MDT’s installed in TNT vehicles have increased productivity and customer service whilst providing operational cost reductions. The state of the art MDT technology provides real time information which has improved route planning and increased the speed of response to customers’ parcel collection requests. TNT can now collect from customers anywhere in the country within no more than 30 minutes of receiving the collection request. Delivery information is instantly downloaded from the delivery vehicle to the central computer system. Proof of delivery data can then be accessed immediately by customers, via the TNT website, within minutes of the delivery being made. Years of innovation paid off for express delivery company TNT (UK) Ltd on October 22nd 2000, when it was announced that the company was a winner in the Innovation category of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
