TNT's terrific training performance takes top honour

19-Dec-2007

Britain's biggest business-to-business express delivery company's continued commitment to excellence in training has been recognised with a National Training Award - the most prestigious award for training, for a record-breaking sixth time.

Supported by the Government's Education & Skills Department, the award was presented to TNT following a rigorous verification and audit process.

The judging panel decided that TNT's entry demonstrated a first-class commitment to training and development throughout the organisation, evidenced by the quality and quantity of our training programmes and bottom line results.

TNT's training and development courses have actively involved more than 7,660 employees ranging from managers through to drivers and Loading Bay Operatives over a three-year period.

Benefits to TNT's operation were extensive. They included:

  • labour turnover costs were reduced to the tune of just over £1 million

  • claims losses reduced by 21 per cent

  • employer's liability claims went down by 50 per cent

  • the customer trading base went up by 13 per cent

  • pre-tax profits rose by 39 per cent.

Ruth James, Head of People Development, said: "This highly-valued endorsement is further testimony to our approach in striving to provide our most valuable asset - our people - with the very best ongoing training of any company in the UK, whatever the sector.

"It was a major challenge to deliver this comprehensive training strategy, meeting objectives and contributing to exceptional business results. This training is exceptional because a complexity of learning initiatives were integrated and delivered in different ways over a wide geographical spread throughout the whole business."
