07-Nov-2005
The SAS stormed the Iranian Embassy siege in London, the world lost John Lennon to an assassin's bullet and millions of television viewers tuned in to find out who shot JR Ewing in the popular US soap opera, Dallas.
But for 76 TNT Express Service employees 1980 was equally memorable as the year they began a quarter of a century career journey with the company.
1900 not out -TNT UK Chairman, Bill Hanley, and TNT Express Services Managing Director Tom Bell lead the company's celebrations in honour of 76 long serving employees.

With a combined 1900 years service behind them, the TNT veterans were rewarded for their loyalty and dedication over the last 25 years at a special celebratory lunch, held at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire.
Each long serving employee was presented with an engraved gold watch, a £100 cheque, a bottle of champagne and a gold pen by TNT UK Chairman, Bill Hanley, and TNT Express Services Managing Director Tom Bell.
Reflecting on their sterling service and the company's ability to retain top calibre people in the fast moving express delivery sector, Tom said: "Thank you for your efforts and for everything you have done to make this wonderful company what it is today. I wish you every success in the future."
