Red white, blue and orange as TNT makes Twickenham bow

21-Nov-2005

The home of English rugby was awash with red, white and blue and a sea of black and white as England took to the Twickenham pitch to take on the might of the New Zealand All Blacks in the international rugby union match-up of the season at the weekend.

As the titanic battle developed on the field of play a vibrant splash of orange was added to the proceedings as Britain's leading business-to-business express delivery company made its entrance in the international rugby arena.

The highly distinctive corporate logo of TNT Express Services UK & Ireland was visible to tens of thousands of rugby fans in the stadium, and to millions of television viewers across the world, as it ran alongside the length of the pitch during the epic encounter in which New Zealand eventually triumphed 23-19.

The high profile TNT advertising will be a feature at all of England's autumn internationals and throughout the Six Nations Championship in early 2006. In addition, the TNT logo will also be prominent at all of Scotland's home fixtures at Murrayfield during the 2005/06 season courtesy of a 40ft static banner.

Steve Doig, Director of Marketing for TNT Express Services, explained why the company had chosen the rugby medium as a means of enhancing awareness of its brand.

He said: "TNT has a long established and highly successful relationship with the rugby union fraternity and followers of the sport. There is a very high proportion of successful business leaders and owners of small to medium sized enterprises who follow rugby union, so it makes perfect sense for us to promote our brand to this audience".
