Stewart's golden reward for silver service

20-Oct-2005

The year was 1980 - the SAS stormed the Iranian Embassy in London, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan sparked a mass boycott of the Moscow Olympics, the world lost John Lennon to an assassin's bullet and millions of television viewers wondered who shot JR Ewing in the popular US soap opera, Dallas.

But the start of the 1980s was equally memorable for Southampton Operations Manager Stewart Long as it marked the beginning of a 25-year career journey with express delivery giant TNT.

Based at TNT Express Services' Southampton Depot in Nursling Road Road Industrial Estate, Nursling, Stewart has just clocked up a quarter of a century of service with the country's leading business-to-business express delivery experts and received due recognition from the company at a Long Service Awards ceremony.

He was awarded an engraved gold watch, a £100 cheque, a bottle of champagne and a gold pen by TNT UK Chairman, Bill Hanley, and TNT Express Services Managing Director Tom Bell at a special presentation lunch in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

Commending Stewart's sterling service and reflecting on the company's ability to retain top calibre people in the fast moving express delivery sector, Tom said: "Thank you for your efforts and for everything you have done to make this wonderful company what it is today. I wish you every success in the future."
