25 not out for Aberdeen's top deliverer

The year was 1981 - a record 28 million viewers tuned in to watch Lady Diana Spencer marry Prince Charles, IBM launched its first personal computer, the NASA space shuttle made its maiden flight and the girls of Bucks Fizz were ripping off their skirts at the Eurovision Song Contest.

But 1981 was equally memorable for an employee of express delivery giant TNT as it marked the beginning of a 25-year career journey.

Silver service - Ian Stewart has clocked up 25 years of service for TNT in Aberdeen

Ian Stewart has just clocked up 25 years of service with the country's leading business-to-business express delivery experts and received due recognition from the company at a Long Service Awards ceremony.

Bank Foreman Ian works for TNT at the company's Aberdeen depot at the Forties Centre, Altens Industrial Estate in Aberdeen.

Each TNT veteran received an engraved gold watch, jewellery for the ladies , a bottle of champagne, and a gold pen. The gifts were presented by TNT UK Chairman, Bill Hanley, and TNT Express Services Managing Director Tom Bell at a special dinner to celebrate the landmark, quarter-of-a-century achievement of their employees.

Reflecting on their sterling service and the company's ability to retain top calibre people in the fast moving express delivery sector, Tom said: "Thank you for your efforts and for everything you have done to make this wonderful company what it is today. I wish you every success in the future."
