TNT Express is Official Carrier for European Film Awards for Ninth Successive Year

Dec 5, 2005

TNT Express - the world's leading business to business express delivery company - was the official carrier of the prestigious European Film Awards for the ninth consecutive year and additionally delivered the statuettes to award winners' homes for the first time.

The Awards - held in Berlin, Germany, on 3 December - are constantly growing in significance and stature and this year TNT was responsible for shipping selected films to each of the 1,650 members of the academy who vote in all the award categories.

Marie-Christine Lombard, Group Managing Director, TNT Express, said: "We are delighted with the EFA's decision to retain TNT as their official carrier for the ninth consecutive year and to expand our partnership by allowing TNT to deliver the statuettes to award winners' homes. TNT Express has the largest integrated air and road network in the industry using in excess of 420 airports in more than 200 countries. This gives us the infrastructure and resources to deliver the required quantity of tapes and DVD's to the 1,650 academy members."

In addition to ensuring that academy members across the world received their tapes on time, TNT was also responsible for delivering the award trophies. The statuettes are made by the exclusive jeweller Theo Fennel and were transported from London to the Berlin Arena, in time for 18th European Film Award ceremony.

After the ceremony TNT collected the statuettes from all winners and will deliver them to their homes. The awards were stored in secure transportation containers to prevent damage and accompanied by two gifts - a bottle of 12 year old Jameson Irish Whisky and a silver bottle top from the car manufacturer, Jaguar.

Wim Wenders, President of the EFA said: "I am happy that in TNT, the European Film Academy has found a partner that has remained loyal for many years. Their offer to personally deliver awards to winners has proved a great help this year."
