Eleven TNT Depots Achieve Highest TAPA Accreditation
Sep 12, 2005
Amsterdam, 12 September 2005 - TNT Express - the world's leading business to business express delivery company - today announced that a further eleven of its depots have achieved the highest level of Technology Asset Protection Association (TAPA) accreditation. This involved rigorous auditing of each depot's security infrastructure and places TNT Express at the forefront of shipment security for high-tech and high value goods.
The TNT Express depots that have achieved TAPA 'A' certification are the Vienna and new Linz depots in Austria, the Kolding and new Copenhagen depots in Denmark, the Helsinki and Turku depots in Finland, the Riga depot in Latvia, the Moscow and St Petersburg depots in Russia, the new Madrid depot in Spain and Turkey's new Istanbul depot.
In addition, TNT Spain's Barcelona air and road depots, and the depot in Seville, have all achieved TAPA 'B' accreditation.
Tony Lugg, Regional Security Manager, TNT Express, commented on the TAPA accreditations by saying: "These accreditations underline TNT Express' commitment to providing a safe and secure network for high value high-tech goods. Achieving TAPA 'A' puts us ahead of our competitors when dealing with the technology industry and we are seeing an increase in volumes from customers in this sector, in particular between Europe and Asia."
TAPA Freight Security Standards (FSR) certification is an important industry recognised standard which also supports National Aviation Security Regulations and the US Customs C-PAT requirements. It provides TNT Express customers with the confidence that the company has the established freight security requirements in place to ensure a secure network and the safe in-transit storage and warehousing of customer assets.
The TAPA FSR certification has three categories 'A', 'B' and 'C', which are defined by the value of hi-tech traffic moving through each depot - TAPA 'A' being multi million pounds worth of goods per month. TNT Express had already achieved TAPA 'A' certification at its major European Air Hub in Liège, Belgium and its European Road Hub in Arnhem, the Netherlands, both of which have seen a growing volume of hi-tech consignments.
