TNT Express is the First Transport Company to Receive Global Accreditation for 'Managing Safely' Training Programme
Mar 27, 2006
TNT Express - the world's leading business to business express delivery company - today announced that it is the first transport company to receive global accreditation from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), for its 'Managing Safely' training programme.
The programme - which provides international recognition in health and safety training - was designed by the IOSH in 2005 and adapted by TNT Express to enhance the knowledge and competency of managers and supervisors in safety leadership.
"We are delighted that TNT Express is the first transport company to achieve global accreditation from IOSH for the 'Managing Safely' programme. This recognition is testament to the importance that the company places on global social responsibility," said Mike Patrick, Director of Health, Safety & Environment, TNT Express.
Comprising eight modules and a four-day workshop assessment, the programme includes courses on accident management, risk assessment, manual handling, accident investigation and health and safety legislation. Equipped with this range of skills, TNT Express employees are able to create and effectively maintain a secure working environment.
"The programme ensures that TNT Express meets the stringent quality requirements laid down by the IOSH, the company's rigorous internal standards and the health and safety needs dictated by the Express industry," continued Mr Patrick.
The 'Managing Safely' accreditation follows the company's recognition as the first-ever organisation to receive a global Investor In People (Iip) award in 2000 and demonstrates TNT Express' ongoing efforts to provide a secure working environment for all employees.
