The charity champions from Atherstone-based TNT's Contact Centre put in a top-of-the-class performance with a marathon session on the phones for BBC's Children in Need.

The annual mega fund-raising extravaganza was backed every inch of the way when the express delivery giant transformed the Contact Centre with balloons and flags as a 170-strong Children in Need team - in a school boy and girl fancy dress theme - got down to the serious business of taking telephone pledges.

TNT employees came from all over the UK to man phones and help the Beeb take pledges totalling more than £55,000 from callers on the night.

Event co-ordinator Stacey Atkins, Major Account Desk Team Leader, said the night had been an outstanding success.

She said: "It was a really brilliant, fun night and I just like to say a massive 'thank you' to everyone who gave up their free time to get involved.

"We started taking donations over the phone from 7pm when the BBC started its coverage and we finished at 12.30am. There were 60 members of the team taking calls at any one time, and the whole team was fed and watered by drinks kindly donated from Britvic and pizzas from Dominoes."

TNT raised nearly £12,000 in the days running up to Children In Need.
