The boss from Rotherham's speediest delivery company put his best foot forward to complete the punishing Lanzarote Ironman event.
Rod McGowan, 40, General Manager at express delivery giant TNT based at Euroway Industrial Estate, Hellaby, Rotherham completed the grueling 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, topped off with a 26.22 mile run in a breathtaking 15 hours and 1 minute.
Rod's rapid race time means that he now can compete in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii on October 10, which has been his ultimate goal during a 24-month personal journey.
Ecstatic Rod explained: "This year was the second time I've completed the Lanzarote Ironman and I was totally thrilled to finish the race in such a decent time. I'm now fully focused on restarting my training programme with the ultimate goal of Hawaii spurring me on."
Rod is now doing a tour of his friends, family and colleagues to seek sponsorship for the big race in Hawaii and all proceeds will be split between TNT's chosen charity, The Wooden Spoon, which provides funding for projects across the UK, supporting youngsters who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
