One of Warwickshire's biggest employers is firmly in the driving seat after clocking up a hat-trick of awards at the UK transport industry 'Oscars' ceremony.
Atherstone-based express delivery giant TNT picked up the three 'gongs' at the prestigious annual Motor Transport Awards, giving the company a record haul of 29 awards in just 23 years - a feat unmatched by any other transport company.
The company topped the judge's scorecards in the three categories of Environment, International Operator of the Year and Fleet Engineer of the Year.
TNT made sure it further enhanced its green credentials by retaining the coveted Environment Award it won in 2008. The judges praised the company for further improvements in its environmental performance and for continuing to encourage all employees and their families to reduce their carbon footprint wherever possible.
The judging panel was also impressed how TNT's international operations played a role in helping the flow of imports and exports to and from the UK and, their was individual recognition for TNT's National Engineering Manager Steve Davis, who was instrumental in introducing the largest fleet of environmentally-friendly lorries in the UK today.
TNT UK Regional Managing Director Tom Bell said: "The way things are going, it looks like our cleaning ladies will be working overtime polishing all our trophies! Seriously, we are delighted with our success - it represents independent recognition that we're doing things the right way.
"What's particularly satisfying is that these awards are highly-prized and hotly contested. For instance, we were up against the likes of well known brands such as Sainsbury's, Royal Mail and Argos, and to come out top is a great achievement."
Justin Stanton, Editor of the RBI-published Motor Transport magazine - hosts of the Motor Transport Awards, said: "TNT is the biggest success stories in the history of the awards stretching over three decades.
"Our independent judging panels scrutinise more than 100 entries every year and only the very best win an award. Consistently winning so many awards, year in, year out is a great achievement, and I congratulate TNT on its sustained success."
