TNT UK - Calculating Volumetric Weight
 

Large, lightweight packages are charged at their volumetric weight.  That means for the space they occupy rather than their weight.  To calculate the volume in metres, multiple length by width by height.  Then multiply this figure by the relevant conversion factor in the table below.

For example to, calculate the volumetric weight of a shipment sent within the UK using the dimensions shown in the illustration you would multiply (as shown below)



Size and Weight Restrictions

The following conditions apply when sending consignments.  
Consignments collected on Friday will be delivered on Monday unless Saturday service is requested.
All freight for the Channel Islands must be accompanied by a commercial invoice displaying the item's contents, weight and commercial value.
Dangerous goods may be carried subject to agreement and by prior arrangements with your local TNT depot.
All deliveries to and from Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, Scottish Isles and Northern Ireland are subject to the availability of cross-water transportation.

Maximum Size and Weight

No single item can be accepted which exceeds any of the following criteria:
(Length - longest horizontal dimension.  Width - measured at right angles to length.  Height - highest position from ground.)

UK Mainland

Length: 3.6m (12ft)        Height: 2.1m (7ft)
Width:   1.8m (6ft)          Weight: 1,000 kilos

Northern Ireland and Isle of Man

Length: 2.0m (6.5ft)       Height: 1.5m (5ft)
Width:   1.5m (5ft)          Weight: 1,000 kilos

Channel Islands

Length: 1.2m (4ft)          Height: 1.2m (4ft)
Width:   1.2m (4ft)          Weight: 250 kilos

Destinations inside Europe and South East Asia

  • Consignments to Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands which exceed any of the above criteria are non-guaranteed
  • A minimum weight charge of 300 kilos is applied to all pallets
  • Delivery of dangerous goods is non-guaranteed
