TNT Express, the world's leading provider of global express services, demonstrates its support to professional press photography by sponsoring World Press Photo exhibition (WPP) again this year following to its corporate sponsor contract extension for another three years period which was announced last January 2009. TNT has been a global corporate sponsor of World Press Photo, the major independent platform for photojournalism, since January 2003.
The exhibition has been travelling to over 125 countries worldwide, and will be open for the Indonesian public from December 12, 2009 until January 3, 2010 in Pacific Place Mall, Jakarta. WPP aims to increase public interest in press photography and to promote the free follow of information worldwide. In Indonesia, the exhibition will showcase all the best press photographs from 20 catagories of WPP contest which were submitted by photojournalists, agencies, newspapers, and magazines from across the world.
Ivan Siew, Director of TNT Indonesia said “TNT shares WPP’s vision for a better world and its commitment to helping to achieve that vision. We also share the belief that exercising our individual freedoms is at the core of a just and ethical society, and that making a difference in the world begins with awareness. This is why TNT chose to sponsor the WPP foundation. We believe that our sponsorship is a way of demonstrating our interest in the world and, more importantly, our pledge to help making it a better place.”
TNT always concerns with social issues such as hunger, poverty and global warming which is proven through its corporate responsibility programs including Moving The World – partnership with World Food Programme to fight hunger, and Planet Me. Its support to WPP is another way for TNT to raise these issues to the high level because a picture is worth a thousand words.
“Photojournalism is a very natural photography because it captures real situations in the society. We fully support the development of photojournalism and believe our participation in WPP activity can accommodate the need of photojournalism community to share knowledge, improve skills, as well as create a greater visibility for press photography to the world,” Ivan ended.
