Ivan Siew is appointed to spearhead the growth
Jakarta, March 31, 2009 – TNT Express, leading provider of integrated express services, today cited estimares its business to grow by 20 percent in Indonesia despite the current economic challenges. During a media briefing, TNT also mentioned the company’s business achievements during 2008 and its plans to expand future services. TNT is committed to remain one step ahead in customer satisfaction and extend its market position in the industry.
Onno Boots, Regional Managing Director for TNT Asia, said, “We have, in the last 12 to 15 months, delivered our promises to invest and expand our services across the region, whether opening new facilities in Jakarta, Bangkok and Singapore, or offering new freight services and enhanced customer services.
With the operations of TNT Boeing 747-400 to Asia starting July last year and the launch of its range of freight services for time sensitive heavy shipments. –Express Freight, Economy Freight and Freight Plus – TNT Indonesia is ready to meet the large demand for freight services which mainly driven by customers in the high-tech, equipment and machinery and fashion sectors that are increasingly moving large volumes of high-value goods between Southeast Asia, China and Europe. TNT’s freight services are set to be a main business driver for the company over the next five years. The move forms part of the company’s significant investment over the next five years to build a leadership position in the region.
Mr. Boots added,”Our superior infrastructure such as gateways in Indonesia’s 5 big cities in addition to our main gateway in Jakarta has become an added value for customer. For example, now our customers in Balikpapan which is mainly from oil, mining & gas industry can enjoy better service and transit time for their import service from Europe with a direct connection from Europe-Singapore-Balikpapan, leveraging on the seamless connectivity offered by our extensive road and air networks.
Appointment of Ivan Siew as new Director
TNT has also appointed a Director for Indonesia, Ivan Siew replacing Peter Langley after his three years of serving with TNT in Indonesia. Starting this year, Mr. Langley will be based in TNT’s China Head Office – Shanghai to take up a new role as the Sales & Marketing Director for TNT North Asia.

Future Plans
The strong growth prospects in Indonesia have strengthened TNT’s commitment to developing its services and facilities in the country. This year, TNT will upgrade existing depots to significantly improve the management of inbound and outbound packages and freight to further fulfill customer demands.
Mr. Boots explained, “Judging by our strong figures last year, TNT expects its growth to continue showing an upward trend in 2009. Business in Indonesia was solid in 2008 which bodes well for 2009. Despite the current economic challenges, TNT has confidence in the growth of Indonesia’s economy in the immediate future. In order to achieve this, we are committed to extending our market position through investment in facilities, technologies and value added services to support our freight services as the main business driver to grow.”
