TNT Indonesia (“TNT”), one of the world’s leading express integrators, today announces its 2009 business performance result and growth plans for 2010 in the country. Despite the global financial downturn, TNT successfully achieved 2009 target of 20% growth in Indonesia. Looking ahead in 2010, TNT is eyeing for another 20% growth by continues to focus on freight and high-value shipment services. To achieve this, TNT today opened a new expanded gateway in Indonesia’s second largest city, Surabaya, to attract more business opportunities and to provide better service to its customers.
Ivan Siew, Director of TNT Indonesia said: “We are pleased that our strong results last year given the depth of the global recession. Through our continuous service enhancements, we have provided customers a variety of cost-effective solutions to meet their supply chain needs, even through the most challenging of times.”
In the past 12 months, TNT Indonesia has also recorded a number of significant milestones, that have contributed to the company’s 20 per cent growth such as:
- The launch of a twice-weekly direct air connection between Singapore and Balikpapan in cooperation with Cardig Air, with a capacity 16 tons per flight. This connection has improved transit times, and in turn increased businesses for TNT in Balikpapan
- The opening of Pulo Gadung Value-added warehouse to enhance TNT’s capabilities in handling more freight shipment as well as grow our business in aftermarket service logistic. The Pulo Gadung facility is three times bigger than its previous premise, and is capable of handling up to 14,000 unit spareparts
- Upgrade technologies such as Proof of Delivery (POD) signature image deployment, upgrade mobile workers and e-invoicing. These upgrade technologies are aimed to give an easy access for customers to track their shipment and increase TNT’s productivity
- TNT’s excellent customer service was recognised and honoured with three customer service awards from ICCA (Indonesia Contact Centre Association) as The Best Contact Centre Operation (under 100 seats) and The Best Agent Outbound and APCCAL (Asia Pacific Contact Centre Association Leaders) as The Best Contact Centre of The Year
This year, having optimizing its business in Indonesia, TNT aims to strategically grow its market share in Indonesia. TNT will boost its freight business (including its service logistics products and services), grow its key strategic lanes, and enhance its facilities such as the new gateway in Surabaya. The new facility, which is located close to the airport and is larger than its previous premise, was established to grow TNT’s presence in Surabaya - a city that contributes to a15 per cent of TNT’s business in Indonesia. Its close proximity to Juanda Airport also enhances TNT’s seamless air and road network.
“ Surabaya is the second biggest contributor for TNT’s total revenue in Indonesia and it is well positioned to connect the various high-value shipments from vertical market businesses in East Java, Bali, and Eastern part of Indonesia such as electronic, equipment & machinery, manufacture, fashion, furniture & healthcare.,” said Ivan.
TNT’s new expanded office in Surabaya will provide more benefit to its customers, such as closer proximity to the airport where customers can experience a faster outbound and inbound transportation from and to airport. Furthermore, the location is very strategic as it is easily accessible to customers from Surabaya and its surrounding areas, including Mojokerto, Sidoarjo, Gresik, Pasuruan, and Malang. The new location also housed a bigger value-added warehouse and loading & unloading area, which pose an increased capability for TNT to handle more shipments and efficiency of TNT’s operational performance.
Becoming the first courier express company that own gateway facility in Surabaya proved TNT’s leadership in this industry for integrated solution of air and road transport.
