TNT Strengthen Its Capabilities In Supporting Indonesian Mining Sector

TNT’s top-notch capabilities will be shown at one of the largest mining exhibition, 14th International Mining and Minerals Recovery Exhibition and Conference, Mining Indonesia 2009. The exhibition is held on October 14th–17th, 2009 at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran.


Jakarta, October 14, 2009 –TNT, world’s leader in integrated express services, strengthen its capabilities to support Indonesia’s mining sector through various investment on network, infrastructure, products and services. TNT’s top-notch capabilities will be shown at one of the largest mining exhibition, 14th International Mining and Minerals Recovery Exhibition and Conference, Mining Indonesia 2009. The exhibition is held on October 14th–17th, 2009 at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran.

The need for importing heavy machineries & industrial equipments up to sites as well as exporting the mining sample is the top priority of their business operation. To accommodate the growing demands of time sensitive spare part for mining equipments in Indonesia, such as in Balikpapan, TNT has been investing on facilities to strengthen our capabilities in this sector, including the launch of new direct connection Singapore-Balikpapan, opening of new 1,400 sqm value added warehouse in Pulo Gadung, additional fleets, and deployment of Mobile Workers (real-time hand-held communication device for TNT courier with proof of delivery signature image). These expansions are geared to meet TNT’s customers’ needs and concurrently help us to achieve our revenue growth by 20% in 2009.
 
The partnership between TNT and Cardig Air for the operation of Boeing 737-300 leased cargo freighter to fly Singapore – Balikpapan is expected to give a significant impact to TNT’s space guaranteed of heavy shipment. The 16-tons freighter will give customers assurance of guaranteed uplift from Singapore-Balikpapan-Singapore twice a week which connects Balikpapan to the rest of Southeast Asia, Australia and Europe with the fastest transit times. Due to this new development in the Kalimantan region has already experience 60% growth for TNT Indonesia over the previous year.
 
Recently, TNT announced the operation of our own second Boeing 747-400 ERF to fly Europe - Hong Kong, followed to the arrival of first aircraft to fly Europe – Singapore - Shanghai since last year.
 
TNT’s strong and biggest air and road network in Europe, Southeast Asia and China are our key strength that will mostly benefit customers, especially mining industry that focuses on moving large volumes of high-value goods from these regions.
