TNT Express Renews Adopt a School Program in

Jakarta, 20 December 2011 – TNT Express Indonesia is determined at all times to make positive impact on society, one of the initiatives is to support quality education for children. Towards the end of this year, TNT renews the library as one of school facilities in SDN 12 Petang Tebet, . The program is one of the main pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility activities owned by TNT. This program has been running since 2002, by providing an initial donation of renovation and facilities of school.

“Education and people has always been a cornerstone of our culture and value system, so it was only fitting that we looked to partner with a local school,” explained Ivan Siew, Director of TNT Express Indonesia. Primary schools which are the first education level as the basic education, where basic education provides the basic knowledge, attitudes, skill and can be further developed to improve the quality of the student it self.

Back in 2002, TNT had scouted many schools in for adopt a school program. SDN 12 Petang in Tebet, was then chosen for several reasons, such as the economic status of students’ parents and the location that is prone to severe flood, school building also became a shelter resident when floods hit. The Over the years, TNT had supported the school by providing various supports, both physical and non-physical. The library was one of them.

Renovation that has been done is split between the teachers' lounge and library. TNT renewed bookcase and increase collection of books in accordance with the latest curriculum and more than 600 pieces of science books.

Eko Pramudito, Human Resources, HSE & CSR Director of TNT Express Indonesia said: “The most remarkable outcome out of the adopt-a-school program with SDN 12 Petang Tebet has come from the time that we have spent with the students. It has been a two way street – we are hopeful to continue helping to inspire students as much as they have inspired us with their dedication to learning.”

Aiming to provide more support to the school, both teachers and students, TNT continues to adopt SDN 12 Petang in 2012. Actions such as re-enhance the facilities of the library, capacity building for teachers, and direct interaction with students through series of activities are planned and ready to be implemented once the year 2012 kicks in.
