TNT Express is licensed to ship dangerous goods. To guarantee a safe delivery of dangerous goods, these need to be declared. If you are certified yourself to pack and ship dangerous goods, you can obtain approval to ship these goods via the standard TNT Express services. Strict norms apply, such as correct labelling, not exceeding the agreed volumes, etc.

Dangerous goods or substances can pose a risk to health, safety and the environment. To minimise this risk as much as possible, TNT Express offers several options to ship dangerous goods. These enable us to quickly and efficiently identify and follow up dangerous goods in our networks.

  • Dangerous goods - code : HZ
  • Dangerous goods in limited quantities - code : LQ
  • Dry Ice shipments - code : DI
  • Lithium batteries - code : LB
  • Biological substances (category B), UN3373 - code : BB
  • Dangerous goods in excepted quantities - code : EQ
  • Radioactive materials in excepted packages, class 7 - code : XP

For each shipment containing dangerous goods or substances, a surcharge will be applied. TNT Express is obliged to ensure procedures and legislation are strictly followed. That is exactly why handling dangerous goods demands extra attention.

How to use the option codes?

When choosing one of the Dangerous Goods options, you need to also use one of our Electronic shipping tools.

You use ExpressShipper?
The codes are available in ExpressShipper version 1.05.500. Just tick the codes. No code combinations are allowed.

You use myTNT?
All codes (for which no Dangerous Goods Approved Status is necessary) are available within myTNT. Just tick the codes. No code combinations are allowed.

You use ExpressManager?
ExpressManager is being updated. Please contact your Account Manager (357 395 220). Meanwhile, you can apply the manual procedure. Enter the option code in section ‘Special Instructions’ and also mention this to the driver who picks up your shipment. You also need to tick ‘dangerous goods’ in your shipping application.
