December 18 2011, Kuala Lumpur: The TNT Charity Hunt was held in KL on 18 December 2011 and was participated in by 54 teams who had a great time discovering the Klang Valley, collecting clues and racing to find the treasures.
The TNT Charity Hunt proudly organised by TNT Express Malaysia and supported by Mail Boxes Etc Sdn Bhd and Mongoose Publishing raised RM20,000 for Shelter Home Malaysia and Precious Children’s Home. The amount raised will be used for the rehabilitation and education of children-at-risk and empower them to get ahead in life. Besides raising RM20,000 in cash, the Charity Hunt also collected donations in kind. These included, presents for the children and daily necessities for the homes.
Empowered by the overwhelming response to the TNT Charity Hunt, S C Chong, Managing Director of TNT Malaysia and Brunei, is already looking to the future to the second TNT Charity Hunt, “It’s great to see that everyone had a good time. Where else can you enjoy a friends and family day of fun, give in to your treasure seeking instincts, win some amazing prizes and help deserving charities, all at the same time?”
The TNT Charity Hunt started early as 54 teams gathered at the starting point, TNT KL West Operation Centre, a 40,000 sq foot warehouse facility. After a hearty breakfast and a short briefing the teams flagged off. The 55 km long route took them through the Klang Valley as they hunted for clues, visited MBE outlets and gathered presents for the children.
While the teams were out, over 30 children from both Precious Children’s Home and Shelter Home Malaysia were treated to a yummy lunch and participated in a magic show, sang songs and had fun with Cha Cha the clown. The children had fun and were happy to meet new friends, “I met so many new friends today. I loved the Christmas clown and I sang a Beiber song! Thank You TNT for giving so many presents for us and our friends back at the shelter.” Said Daniel from Shelter Homes Malaysia.
The TNT Charity Hunt ended back at Bukit Jelutong, where the teams enjoyed a sumptuous lunch and excitedly awaited the results while being entertained by the antics of Santa Clown Cha Cha and sang along to carols by the children. Team “2 Sneakies + 2 Innocents” won the first prize in Regular Category while “Tan Lim Teh Leow” won the first prize in Novice Category and both first prize winners took away RM2,000 as prize money.
Mrs. Roberts of Precious Children’s Home has big plans for the money raised, “I feel so happy to see the enthusiasm today. Thank you all for your help. This money will greatly help us in procuring books, uniforms and educational toys for the children along with daily necessities necessary to improve the quality of life for the children.”
