Enhanced Security Surcharge
TNT is implementing additional procedures, activities and investments to safeguard our customers' shipments while in our custody, following recent well-publicized incidents involving the international transportation of shipments containing illegal explosive devices. To partially offset the additional costs, an Enhanced Security Surcharge will be applied from January 1, 2011, onward.
In the US, an ESS of $0.04/lb. will be applied to all shipments transported internationally. The ESS has a minimum charge of $0.70 and maximum charge of $14.00 per consignment.
