TNT Express, a leading global business to business express delivery company, this year celebrates a prosperous 35 years of reliable service within the South African Market.
Over the past three and a half decades, TNT witness many positive changes and developmental milestones that have put the company at the forefront of delivering service excellence. The launch of Product Harmonisation saw TNT become the first courier company to offer three morning delivery times, ensuring customers a service that is both economical and time guaranteed. With this launch, TNT’s product range was standardised, ensuring that customers could ask for a specific service anywhere in the world and know that their consignments would be delivered within the requested time frame.
The introduction of TNT’s specialis Clinical Express services - now known as Life Sciences – once again saw TNT become the first company to offer a one-stop-shop for the Clinical Trials market; with services specifically design for the transportation of mical specimens and investigative drugs.
“TNT has always aim to be the fastest and most reliable on-demand express delivery company,” says Tim Steel, Country General Manager at TNT Express. “The launch of our Cape Town Gateway in 2007 marked our commitment to further growing our South African domestic operations,” adds Steel.
As the world evolv, technological advancements influenced the way in which businesses operate, and TNT is no exception. With the introduction of TNT’s e-invoicing, customers are given immediate access to their invoices at the click of a button. Electronic invoicing has helped reduce paper wastage considerably, thus helping to reduce the company’s overall environmental impact.
Real-time track & trace facilities and the mobile worker/ in cab units have also improved communications between customers, drivers & operations - thus improving the overall quality of service offered to customers.
The newly- launched POD imaging retrieval provides a digital image of the receiver’s signature. It includes date and time of delivery, providing irrefutable proof of receipt and faster billing for customers. The retrieval function is automatic and unlike other providers, customers don’t need to request it upfront. The service is available in over 85 countries – more than any other service provider.
“TNT has fully embrac the age of high-spe internet and cellular phone technology to provide enhanc courier management and customer experiences,” adds Steel. He continues to say, “While technology may have chang the face of the courier industry, we ensure that at any time and any place, the process behind customer “touch points” is to deliver the ultimate customer experience. Over the past 35 years, TNT Express has always made customer service the centre of everything we do”.
Not only has TNT’s focus been on its service delivery, it has also demonstrat a commitment to giving back to the world. “Part of our mission is to lead the industry by taking responsibility for our world,” explains Steel. One of many Corporate Responsibility (CR) initiatives that the company is passionaltely involv in is Planet Me. As TNT’s biggest CR initiative, Planet Me is an environmental programme that aims to drastically ruce the company’s global carbon footprint. By 2020 the initiative’s target is to improve TNT’s CO2 efficiency by 45% compared to 2007.
“Over the next five years, as part of our “Vision 2015” strategy, we hope to create a challenge for market leadership and put well and truly on the global map. We want to use TNT’s success over the past 35 years in South Africa to position the company for accelerat growth and look forward to another 35 years of delivering superlative services. As a result, we will continue to operate one strong network and a common sales platform; prioritizing focus on customer satisfaction and cost leadership,” concludes Steel.
