AWKWARD FREIGHT - MAX WEIGHT AND DIMENSIONS UPDATE

Please be advised on the following upgrade of the Express limitations for the following destinations:
Hong Kong and Japan:
Max. weight: 150 kg pallet, 500 kg consignment (old: 70 kg pallet, 500 kg consignment).
Max. dimensions: Unchanged, 1.8 m x 1.2 m x 1.5 m.

On the Express limitations to/from Iceland the standard EAN limitations will apply without exceptions anymore.

Strike - Kathmandu, Nepal

Please be advised that various political parties have called for strike action on 12th & 13th November 2009 in Kathmandu (KTM).
All roads have been blocked by demonstrators. Pick-ups, deliveries and clearance activities will be affected.

Adverse Weather, Snowfall - Xi'an City, China
12.11.2009

Heavy snow hit Xi'an City last night and today. As a result many roads and streets are affected due to traffic problem.
1. SIA City is currently experiencing major traffic jams. All the roads and streets are covered with heavy snow, hard to walk and drive.
2. The majority of pick-up and deliveries will be delayed.
3. The freeways and airport closed last night. As of yet there is no ETA as to it re-opening. As a result many flights were cancelled or expected to be cancelled.

Pick-up and delivery operations in Xi'an City will be affected the whole day.

GIFTS - NORWAY

Please be advised that gifts to private persons and companies in Norway are subject of normal customs clearance, meaning that the receiver will be charged import duties.
The only exception is gifts from a private person to a private person when the value of the goods are below NOK 1000,- and when the receivers social security number is stated on the invoice.
The commercial invoice must reflect this in order to avoid a normal customs clearance and import duties.

It is however important that 'gift' is stated on the commercial invoice in addition to a more detailed description of the goods.

Japan - Phone number of consignee

All shipments into JP must have phone number of consignee even DOX shipments, otherwise JP customs will reject

declaration, which results in delay in customs clearance. This is requirement from JP customs which we have to comply with. 

Slovakia

Please be advised that all imported customs controlled shipments to Slovakia with a value higher than 6638,00 EUR should be sent with original invoice.

North Vietnam Operations
28.10.2009

Affected Service: Operations
Thang Long Bridge in Ha Noi is under re-construction, so access to trucks is forbidden from 6am to 8pm everyday starting from 23 October 2009 to 30 January 2010.
All export, transit and import processes in North Vietnam (including pick ups and delivery in some areas of HAN and VIO) will be affected.

A contingency plan is being worked on to minimize the impact.

Brazil

All imported shipments to Brazil should be sent with receiver's name, contact person, department and phone number. Otherwise, there will be delays in contacting the receiver to obtain their acceptance for any duties payable and any other required information that may be required which would help to release and deliver the shipments quickly.
Many shipments for individuals have been received in the last few weeks and a lot of them without the contact information.
Also please be aware that the zip codes in Brazil have 8 digits, and even those started by zero must have the zero entered, otherwise the shipment might be sent to towns outside the correct place.

E. g.: 03058-060 São Paulo (province São Paulo)
30580-600 Belo Horizonte (province Minas Gerais)

All shipments to São Paulo City start by zero; if zero is not entered then the shipment could go to another Province.

Malaysia - National Budget Day

Please note that today, 23rd October 2009 is the budget day for Malaysia. All the customs offices throughout the country will be closed approximately from 1200hrs till 2359hrs. Hence, all import clearance activities will be affected. The Malaysia clearance team have the necessary resources in place to handle the backlogs and will do the best to clear those consignments once the customs offices reopens.

DELIVERY RESTRICTIONS - IRAQ - UPDATE

and VICTORY BASE CAMP in Baghdad and this means consignments addressed in to these locations will be door-delivered.

Bratislava
22.10.2009

An informal meeting of NATO member states defence ministers will be held in Bratislava (BTS), from Thursday October 22nd until Friday, October 23rd.
During this period traffic restrictions will be imposed in the city centre and as a result we are expecting delays in deliveries and collections in Bratislava

All effected consignments will be updated with status AN with remark " NATO meeting".

FRANCE

There will be general strike in France on Wednesday, October 7th. This strike and demonstrations are expected in all French cities and will have an impact on all French activity. Therefore, expect delays regarding pick-ups, deliveries, and freight processing.

Vietnam - Typhoon Kesana

Typhoon Kesana has reached central Vietnam and there have been very strong winds and heavy raining in the area. Power is off and all schools and offices were yesterday asked to close by the central Vietnam government. TNT offices there are closed and there will be no operation, pick ups or deliveries until the weather has improved. Also please note that all trucks (domestic & ARN) will stop in Da Nang (DAD) from today until further notice.

China National Day Holiday

Please be informed that China National Day Holiday will start from 1 Oct till 8 Oct 2008. The weekend on the 27 Sep and 10 Oct will be working days in replacement for Wednesday (7 Oct) and Thursday (8 Oct). Normal operation will be closed during the holiday period.

Oaxaca City, Mexico City, is closed

Please be informed that Oaxaca city is now closed due to Political Demonstration, Oaxaca city is facing again political problems so all the deliveries for this place will be postponed. All the shipments will be sent to Tehuacan, Puebla and will be kept there until this problem is solved. This will affect all the deliveries and all the collections there. We apologize for this inconvenience.

South Africa - Customs Strike
05.09.2009

Please be informed that a South African Customs strike has been announced today, 04 September 2009, and is expected to continue for the duration of week 37 and 38.

The impact is that all Customs Clearances (High and Low value, Inbound and Outbound) will be affected for the duration of the strike. Track and Trace will be updated accordingly and it is requested that escalation are kept to a minimum.

JIMENA HURRICANE - MEXICO
02.09.2009 

The Jimena Hurricane, a dangerous phenomenon classified in the 4th category is now in front of the Mexican pacific coast.
The National Meteorological System (SMN) declared a red alert from the occidental coast in Baja California South to San Evaristo in the east coast in the same state.
The alert was also extended to other states like Colima, Jalisco, Guerrero, Michoacan, Nayarit, and Sinaloa.
Pick-up and delivery operations in that states will be affected.
