Where shipments fall outside TNT’s standard handling and shipping process additional charges may apply to your shipment (in addition to the base rate). The following are descriptions of these additional services. The chargeable amount is dependent on the invoicing country.

A) Shipment Management

Non-Electronic Consignment
An additional charge is applied to consignments where data is not electronically submitted and therefore cannot be electronically processed by TNT, i.e. handwritten consignment notes.

Non-Electronic Invoice
When customers require a paper invoice an additional charge is applied.

Receiver Pays
Customers can select "Invoice to Receiver" on the consignment note to indicate that the invoice is to be sent to the receiver in the local currency. An additional charge will then be applied to recover the additional administrative effort/costs for these Receiver Pays consignments.

Insurance
Customers can select "Insurance" on the consignment note to ensure they get the full value of the shipment back in case of loss or damage. For more information, click here.

Special Handling

Freight of a non-standard nature creates special challenges within our networks. To ensure that your shipments are delivered on time and in perfect condition, please familiarise yourself with the types of shipments that require special handling and the related charges.

Out of Area

TNT provides customers with collection and delivery services in remote and less-accessible locations for which an additional "Out of Area" charge is applied to recover the additional costs incurred.

C) Special Transport Services

National and other regulatory requirements shape the options available to the customer. TNT Express shipping tools have been improved to support customer with their shipments of dangerous goods. This makes it clearer, easier and quicker for our customers to ship dangerous goods such as lithium batteries, often found in electronic and computer goods (such as laptops and cell phones).
