Dangerous goods

Many healthcare items and the materials used to transport them are classed as dangerous goods

But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you can’t ship them.

Biological substances such as blood, tissue and other fluids are classed as dangerous goods. You must clearly attach a UN 3373 label to all shipments containing human and/or animal biological substances.

Dry ice – commonly used as a refrigerant to preserve healthcare items – is also classed as dangerous goods. If you use dry ice to pack your shipment, you also need to attach a UN 1845 hazard label.

Unique sector, unique solutions

We provide healthcare logistics that make test medication and medical device supply chains faster, safer and cheaper. Speedy and reliable shipping services provide a superior alternative to holding costly consignment stock in hospitals.

Our expertise in healthcare logistics means we can reduce everything from transport to packaging costs – all while maintaining service performance that’s higher than the industry average.

Packing

Keep healthcare goods cool (or warm)

Temperature controlled packaging must provide secure and effective protection for goods while also complying with international regulations. Failure to properly pack healthcare goods not only puts the contents at risk, it may also breach international shipping directives and prevent your shipment from reaching its destination.

We offer packaging that conforms to both UN 3373 guidelines and IATA Packing Instruction 650 for the air transport of biological substances.

Customs

Customs rules for healthcare goods vary considerably from country to country

Ensure you’re well aware of the respective legislation within the region you’re shipping to.

Healthcare devices and biological substances are amongst some of the most heavily regulated goods in the world. In line with evolving products in the industry, customs guidelines can also change regularly, with little notice. This means it’s vital that importers and exporters stay aware of regulatory change.

We can manage all aspects of import and export processes, helping to prevent customs issues and shipment delays. This ensures vital samples and equipment get where they need to be on time.
