Preparing irregular items

How to assure safe transport

Large, heavy or irregularly shaped items need extra attention to packaging and handling. Often they cannot be stacked or placed on conveyor belts during transit. Because of this, you may need to pay a surcharge. If your shipment requires special handling, please contact us for assistance.

A guide to irregular items

Tubes

Heavy cylinders should be strapped to a pallet. Avoid overhang and make sure the pallet is stackable. Lighter tube-shaped items can be packed in a triangular shipping tube.

Unboxed items

Unpacked items should be boxed and/or strapped to a pallet. Use additional padding to protect any sharp edges which may be exposed.

Sharp/protruding items

Sharp items must be wrapped in protective padding before being placed in a box. Never allow anything to protrude from a packed box as it risks damage when stacked. If necessary, use a larger box or consider using a pallet.

Heavy/oversized items

Maximum weight and dimensions vary according to the service. For shipments exceeding 2.4 x 1.2 x 1.5 m (L x W x H) or 500 kg, please contact customer service.

Labelling

Find a flat surface to affix your routing label and any special handling labels required. On materials like wood, rubber or fabric, use additional tape, staples or glue to secure your labels.

Pro tip: Place a copy of the label inside the box.
