TNT inaugurates new depot in Eindhoven

Wednesday 24 September 2015

Just 10 months after the start of the construction, TNT officially inaugurated its new depot at the Achtseweg Noord on September 18.

Staf Depla, the city of Eindhoven alderman of Work, Economy and Vocational Education, together with TNT Benelux Managing Director Erik Uljee and Depot Manager Edwin Vermeer, proceeded in the opening ceremony.

The Eindhoven depot spans 6,350 m2, boasting 105 docks, of which 52 are dedicated to trucks only. The lay-out allows for vans to directly approach the sorting belt, reducing manual handling and increasing efficiency. The depot has been equipped with a state of the art sorting system with a capacity of 3,500 parcels per hour. Also, the depot has been built with respect for sustainability and has been BREEAM-NL (4 stars – Excellent) certified.

Erik Uljee, Managing Director TNT Benelux: “This depot enables us to offer clients a later pick-up time, in combination with increased reliability. Apart from dispatching shipments via the regular road and air connections, we also directly service important markets such as France and the UK, because of the large volumes.”

The construction of the new depot is part of the planned investments within TNT’s Outlook strategy.
