Due to disruptions in the global supply chain in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, we announced a surcharge on all TNT international parcel and freight shipments beginning April 6, 2020.
Air cargo capacity remains limited, and we are incurring incremental costs as we continue to adjust our international networks to best deliver much-needed goods and services in this constrained environment.
Beginning December 28, 2020, the surcharge amount for some FedEx Express and TNT international parcel and freight shipments originating from MEISA (UAE, India, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, Botswana, Malawi, Kenya, Egypt*, Jordan*) and Europe destined for the U.S. and Canada will decrease from $0.55/kg to $0.22/kg.
The Peak Surcharge rate per kg will be applied as shown below:
*Decrease in surcharge rates from Egypt and Jordan is applicable only for TNT.
Note: Minimum amount for parcel: $1 and minimum amount for freight: $50. Applicable Surcharge amount will be the higher of the per kg rate OR Minimum amount. The above mentioned rates are subject to exchange rate fluctuations. The surcharges in other countries remain unchanged.
The disruption and uncertainty in the global cargo industry has increased our cost to serve. This temporary surcharge will allow us to continue providing service as effectively as possible until global market conditions return to normal.
Until further notice. We will evaluate this surcharge on an ongoing basis. Market conditions are shifting rapidly as a result of the coronavirus. Our priority is to continue providing the best possible service to our customers during this period of uncertainty and rising cost to serve, and this surcharge allows us to do that.
