Air traffic control strike in France

18th March 2014

Flights to and from France will be disrupted on 18 March because of a 24-hour strike by public service workers including air traffic controllers. The civil aviation authority expects a reduction of as many as 30 percent of flights at Paris’s airports.

The reduction is expected to be 20 percent at Lyon, Marseille, Nice and Toulouse airports. French unions are protesting austerity measures planned by the government.

TNT Express has set up a comprehensive contingency plan to minimise interferences on its operations. The plan includes rerouting shipping, as necessary, to avoid impact on international deliveries. Nevertheless, some service delays and disruptions cannot be excluded.

French domestic flights are expected to operate normally, but disruptions are possible.
