Surcharges are additional charges that are mandatory and applicable to your TNT shipments. When shipping consignments with TNT, the following surcharges apply:
Fuel surcharges
TNT applies an index-based fuel surcharge to every shipment.
Enhanced security surcharge
TNT has implemented additional procedures, activities and investments to safeguard our customers' shipments whilst in our custody. To partially offset the additional costs an Enhanced Security Surcharge is applied to all shipments.
The enhanced security surcharge will be levied on all international Express, Economy Express and Special Express shipments at the rate of €0.05 per kilo*, subject to a minimum of €0.50 and maximum €10.00 per shipment.
For airfreight shipments, a surcharge is levied at the rate of €0.09 per kilo*. The minimum surcharge is based on a weight of 100kg. There is no maximum charged weight.
*TNT uses a volumetric conversion factor to calculate whether a shipment will be charged according to its statistical weight or volumetric weight - whichever is greater.
TNT reserves the right to assess fuel and other surcharges on shipments without notice. The amount and duration of any such surcharges will be determined at our sole discretion. By tendering your shipments to TNT, you agree to pay the surcharges, as determined by TNT.
COVID-19 has disrupted supply chains, reducing air cargo capacity globally.
This disruption has caused us to have to make adjustments to our networks which has increased our costs. As a result, we announced a “Temporary Surcharge” on all FedEx Express and TNT international parcel and freight shipments beginning 6 April.
Beginning 2 November 2020, the “Temporary Surcharge” will be renamed as "Peak Surcharge."
We announced a peak surcharge on all TNT international shipments beginning April 6, 2020.
Due to continued disruptions in the global supply chain, air cargo capacity is limited, and we are incurring increased costs as we continue to adjust our international networks to best deliver much-needed goods and services in this constrained environment.
From April 11, 2022, the surcharge amount for some TNT international shipments will increase. Updated amounts can be found below.
