TNT wishes to notify customers that heavy rainfall and resulting floods are impacting a number of operations at present and may result in a number of delays, particularly to non-urgent road freight bound for the following locations/routes:
Sydney – Perth
The O'Lary bridge west of Broken Hill remains closed for heavy vehicles and a train derailment between Parkes and Broken Hill has resulted in track closures and forced a number of diversions to Melbourne.
Melbourne – Brisbane
The Newell Highway remains closed between Parkes and Forbes at present with shipments being diverted to the Pacific Highway. TNT does not anticipate delays at this stage, however, conditions are subject to change.
Sydney – Adelaide
The Sturt Highway is currently closed at Wagga where TNT’s depot has sustained water damage following heavy rains. Alternate intrastate transit routes have been identified and we do not anticipate lengthy delays to Sydney/Adelaide bound freight, however, local deliveries may be held at origin until operations can safely resumed.
Shepparton and the Riverina, Victoria
Localised flooding has resulted in a number of areas being inaccessible in the Shepparton/Riverina district including: Finley, Tocumwal, Strathmerton, Katunga, Numurkah, Katamatite, Cobram, Tallygaroopna, Barooga, Katandra, Wunghnu and Jerilderie. TNT will continue to service those areas where access remains clear but freight bound for all other affected areas will be held at point of origin or the local destination depot.
The Fraser and Sunshine Coast, Queensland
Please note a severe weather warning has just been issued for the Maryborough, Gympie and Sunshine Coast regions. Heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding is expected around the Southeast Coast and southeastern parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett districts, particularly about the Fraser and Sunshine Coasts and adjacent inland areas.
At present TNT continues to service all affected areas except for the Sunshine Coast hinterland, however, further cancellations may be issued subject to weather developments.
TNT will continue to monitor the above situations closely and develop further contingencies as weather and associated circumstances improve during the week. We recommend those customers wishing to send urgent freight to any of the above mentioned areas select one of TNT’s Priority services (9:00, 10:00, 12:00 and/or Overnight Express) to ensure delays are avoided.
