Service Interruption - QLD Floods
: Tuesday, 4 January 20114 January 2011
TNT is working hard to keep our networks open and service interruptions to a minimum as Queensland continues to suffer catastrophic and unprecedented flooding.
Currently our airfreight network continues uninterrupted to all ports with the exception of Rockhampton so we encourage customers to send all urgent freight by Priority to avoid inevitable delays in the Queensland road network.
In Rockhampton, rising flood waters have already forced the closure of the airport and road links to the south and west and the Bruce Highway is expected to be inundated within the next 48 hours creating major and potentially lengthy delays. Similarly, areas west of Rockhampton such as Blackwater, Emerald, Barcaldine, Longreach & Winton remain inaccessible.
TNT’s Toowoomba depot remains open and continues to service the Dalby region, however, we are experiencing delays in servicing areas further west such as Chinchilla, Roma and Charleville. Further, TNT depots in Bundaberg and Gladstone which were subject to flooding over the weekend have since reopened.
Contingency plans for road freight movements inbound to Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bowen, Proserpine and Ayr are currently being put in place, and work will continue to ensure all freight bound for Rockhampton and surrounding areas is delivered as soon as possible.
Given the size and scale of this disaster TNT is working harder than ever to ensure every effort is made to mitigate disruptions to our customers. We apologise for any delays and consequent inconvenience and we wish our customers, colleagues and all Queenslanders alike, the very best in the coming weeks and months as they rebuild after the floods.
