Western Australia Service Update
: Thursday, 12 January 201212 January 2012 - Tropical Cyclone Heidi & Pilbara Bushfires
Tropical Cyclone Heidi
TNT wishes to advise customers that tropical cyclone Heidi has now been upgraded to a category two (2) system, and a code red has been declared preventing any traffic from operating in the affected areas.
All roads between Karratha and Port Hedland are now closed and will remain so for the next 24 hours. During this time TNT’s Port Hedland linehaul route will terminate in Newman and TNT’s Broome linehaul route will be held over in Broome. TNT will endeavour to have these linehaul routes restored as soon as possible in order to minimise delays.
Further service updates will be provided as they become available and we apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.
Pilbara Bushfires
TNT wishes to advise customers that the West Australian North-West Coastal Highway remains closed today as a result of bush fire. The Fire and Emergency Service Association (FESA) say the blaze, which has been burning since New Year’s Day, will close the Highway for at least the next 24 hours.
Currently all flights in and around the Pilbara region are being delayed or cancelled affecting airfreight going into these regions. TNT’s Karratha linehaul provider has also been prevented from travelling south as alternate inland routes have been closed due to tropical cyclone Heidi.
TNT’s Geraldton / Carnarvon service has not been affected.
Contingency planning continues and TNT will provide regular service updates as they become available. We wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.
