At TNT we work hard to lead, motivate and grow The People Network. Meet Paul, who started with TNT in 1997. An inspiring career journey, starting from bulk truck driver to manager of our Brisbane on-road fleet, Paul tells his TNT story:
“My TNT journey began in October 1997, when I started as a bulk truck driver. Previously having managed retail jewellery stores for over a decade, I wanted a completely new and different career. With no logistics experience, TNT really took the time to show me the ropes and provide me with fantastic training. From the people I worked with and seeing it for myself, straight away I knew TNT was a company that invested in its people, with a real focus on training and development.
In 2002, I was successful in my application for the position of Radio Operator, where I had the opportunity to prove my operational skills in the effective running of the pick-up and delivery (PUD) fleet. My skills were recognised and in 2006 I was then promoted to Service Quality Analyst and Leading Hand. In this position, I developed and refined my skills in a supervisory role, always being mentored and guided by my PUD Manager and the management team. When a Team Leader role came up in August 2011, I felt I had the confidence and knowledge to go for it and apply. I was encouraged by my colleagues and peers and I secured the role but I had still not achieved the goal I had originally set for myself when I joined TNT. Once I became a Team Leader, I had the opportunity to work even closer with the Management Team, Frontline, Domestic Support and Major Accounts, expanding on my knowledge of the business and developing some great relationships with internal and external customers. In June 2013, I finally did secure the role I was aiming for and was appointed PUD Manager for TNT Brisbane North.
TNT is different to any company I have worked for – the focus on training, mentoring and development is second to none. The opportunities for career growth are fantastic – just look at my journey. They have helped me attain a Certificate IV in Frontline Management and qualified me as a heavy vehicle assessor. Additionally, I am currently completing the Dual Diploma in Logistics & Management to further develop my skills as a leader and providing me the tools to better my management ability.
The experience, knowledge and leadership skills I have gained and still continue to learn, is because of TNT investing in me and I cannot be thankful enough.”
