Fuel surcharges

Due to continuing fuel price fluctuations, TNT applies a fuel surcharge to all shipments. This approach provides our customers with a transparent charging mechanism reflecting changes in fuel related costs.

Domestic Fuel Surcharge

The domestic fuel surcharge is a charge applied by TNT which reflects changes in a range of fuel related cost factors. These factors include movements in the price of diesel supplied to TNT, the estimated fuel related costs of TNT's transport suppliers and the jet fuel related charges of TNT's air line haul suppliers.

From 28 April 2019 to 2 June 2019: 16.25%
From 31 March 2019 to 27 April 2019: 16.75%

Please note the following :

Effective June 3 2019 TNT's  International Fuel Surcharge will be adjusted on a weekly basis rather than monthly according to the published range table found below. and The indices used will continue to be the spot price for US Gulf Coast (USGC) kerosene type jet fuel but using the weekly index as opposed to the monthly index

There will be a two week lag in the application of the fuel surcharge index.  For example, the surcharge for June 3 2019 will be based on the average spot price reported for May 24 2019. Changes to the fuel surcharge are effective each Monday. Information on the fuel surcharge for each week will be available online usually from the Friday before the surcharge is applicable.

Subject to the Exceptions described below, the relevant International Fuel Surcharge:

  1. will be notified to customers on this website (www.tnt.com.au) from time to time or on such other website as notified to customers (‘Website’);

  2. may be adjusted weekly and will apply for the period as notified on the Website (‘Relevant Period’);

  3. for a Relevant Period will be calculated as follows:

  • TNT will use the USGC Price, rounded up to the nearest cent, which was published on the U.S. Energy Information Agency website two (2) calendar months prior to the commencement of the Relevant Period (‘Relevant USGC Price’).
  • The International Fuel Surcharge will then be the percentage which appears on the same row as the applicable Price Range within which the Relevant USGC Price corresponds.

EXAMPLE: The International Fuel Surcharge for the Relevant Period occurring in June will be calculated by using the USGC Price published in April. If the April USGC Price was between US$1.43 and US$1.49 then the International Fuel Surcharge for the Relevant Period in June will be 12.75%.
