What is Business Agility and How Can I Achieve it?

Whether you’re the owner, a manager or indeed an employee of a business, you’ll most-likely want your company to succeed and go from strength to strength.

While you’ll probably always be putting your best efforts into what you do, you should always be looking for new ways to improve your operations, and with this in mind, have you ever considered your perceived business agility?

‘Business Agility’ Defined

To put it into somewhat simplistic terms, your business agility is just that – how agile your business can actually be with its operations. This is in relation to how you approach a number of areas of your company, such as proactively looking to adjust to the changing markets, or indeed how quickly you respond to any issues with clients or your setup.

Why it is Important

It’s not hard to see why business agility is important; in short the better, faster and more dynamic you are as a company the more productive you will be. What’s more, if you start to offer a better service or product because of this, you’re increasing the chance of getting more business and impressing your existing customers all the more.

The flip side to this of course is that without showing this more positive and agile approach, you run the risk of falling behind your competition, or failing to deliver the quality your customers expect. Which in turn doesn’t take a marketing degree to realise, certainly won’t be good for your company.

What you Can Do to Achieve it

As alluded to above, the speed in which you react to certain issues with your business plays a huge part in achieving strong business agility, but there are some other things you can do to help work towards being an agile business. Here are a number of examples you can look to implement with your company:

  • You should be organised in whatever it is you are doing.
  • You work to keep up with the current trends in your particular sector and you then use this research and information to adapt and change your practices to keep in line with them. Also, you may want to try and pre-empt any potential changes that might affect your niche.
  • You work closely with your customers to offer them only the best in services. This should cover everything from orders, to queries and aftersales care.
  • You might go about this above point by having new technologies in place like cloud services, online customer support systems, mobile-friendly websites, or apps for your business.
  • You can also apply the same logic to your operations by investing in new tech and devices for things like production, or for your staff to use when on the go.

As aforementioned, being faster and more on the ball can not only be beneficial from an operational side of things, it also shows you’re a hardworking and proactive company – which is something we can all agree is hugely advantageous in the competitive business world.
